One of my favorite product lines of audio effects was the alesis modFX boxes. These were different than regular stompboxes because they had multiple mode selection methods, letting you roll your own envelope-phasers or zero through flangers or what have you. 8-pole LFO modulated high pass filters. I didn't make one of those because (1): not a pedal and (2): these were never very popular due to bad market targeting, among other reasons.

When I was deciding what to draw for the pedals, I made a list of the brands whose pedals were burned into my mind enough to cover, and what their iconic pedals were. MXR's were the Dyna Comp (a guitar compressor popularized by phish) and the Phase 90/100/45, (a phase shifter popularized by Van Halen). Smash 'em together into an envelope-following phase shifter (a thing I know sounded great from my experience with the modFX products) and you've got a pedal worth having, sort of an all-pass auto-wah.

If you don't speak gear nerd, I'm sorry, this caption is entirely untranslatable.
