Buy & Commission
This page outlines the process on how to buy a painting from me. It is a multi-step process.
First, make a profile here. It's free, it lets you see the full content of all the posts here, and it lets you see my contact email address, in the page banner at the top.
Then email me with which piece you would like (or your request for a commission), as well as your shipping address. Feel free to include compliments, critiques, questions, offers to collaborate, etc; I respond to any/all mail I receive.
I'll respond with a price, with shipping broken out; if that works for you, I can take venmo, paypal, or check; commissions I require 50% up front prior to beginning work on your piece.
If you would like to provide your own label, I can accommodate UPS shipments (and make pricing adjustments accordingly), but you'll need weights & dimensions from me prior to issuing a label.
Why is it like this?
There's three pieces to doing it like this instead of a traditional e-commerce platform.
The first is all my pieces are singular. My no prints policy means that I'd be making individual listings for everything, which is a non-starter — I'm here to make art, not websites, right?
Second, since this site is a portfolio, I don't want "not in stock" items not showing up — they're still something I can do that people may want to look at.
Lastly, I like to actually talk to my clients, but just putting my email address out there has resulted in a deluge of spam. So there is a tiny amount of gatekeeping. I look forward to chatting with you.
What should I include if I'm looking to have a commission done?
Great question! Give me a little guidance on:
- The subject of the work you're looking to have done - am I painting a pet? a loved one or family member? a home? something to represent an abstract concept? Include a photo or two if needed
- Whether you'd like me to use an existing piece of mine as a jumping off point
- If you had a preference in medium
- Your goal size and where the final product would live - a small piece that is kept on a desk requires a different touch than a large piece that is displayed prominently in a banquet hall.
In general, a commission is the product of a conversation, so I may need additional info and may ask some clarifying questions.
