Hallowatch 2026 No. 20: Evil Bong (2006)
I went in with such high hopes for Evil Bong, that it'd be the dumbest possible variation of a slasher movie and filled with dumb stoner humor. Instead it felt like a twenty-years-late sequel to 1982's Zapped!, complete with racist stereotypes (done by the bong itself, a dizzying choice) and fratboy lecherousness.
I clumsily type, with my hand on my heart: I cannot in good conscience recommend anyone watch this absolute dogshit movie. I wish there was anything redeemable with it, I wish it was just first installment shakiness or "winging it"-ness and they ironed out the issues to make some dumb weed humor in the incredibly-titled sequels, "King Bong" and "The Wrath of Bong", but this was just so beyond "of its time" that it made me feel disgusted watching it. Maybe "Bong of the Dead" is better. ■
