Wikipedia for a synopsis

This, like Midsommar, was a revelatory experience— "oh, this is why people were talking about this movie" type movies. This movie is real good. A slow build, a slowly tightening noose of a movie. I finally get why everyone was so hyped about Robert Eggers from this. This movie is spooky, isolated, and patient. It will spell out what's happening but it will take its time doing that and it will make you wait there. Its sense of horror is in the inevitability, not the quick change, like trying to rationalize your way out of doing something in a dream.

I don't know that I have terribly much to say about the movie itself — I think I'd be hard pressed to find something not worth praising — especially something that hasn't been said before. This feels like it should be mentioned in the same breath as other classics of the horror majority-genre — Halloween, Cat People, Dracula, Rosemary's Baby — and for it to be Eggers's first movie is astounding. If you haven't watched this movie, go do it.

I think it would be borderline sacrilegious to remake/sequelitize this movie, but I'll rewatch this basically any day.
